About

This lesson is going to show you how the permission system works on Android Things. Permissions are different on Android Things vs Android, where they are known as Runtime Permissions. Here we will walk through the differences.

You do need need any specific hardware for this lesson, as we are explaining the theory of the permissions system.

On Android Things Normal permissions are granted at install time and Dangerous permissions are granted on the next device reboot. Neither require run time checks. This applies to new app installs and updated elements in existing apps.
